VARVEL

Since 1955, the Varvel Group has been designing and producing gearboxes and variators for light industry applications.
In 2009, Varvel has the idea of developing an oil-less gearbox.
So begins the project to design and produce a new range of safe, reliable worm drives for use in applications that demand maximum protection against contamination from lubricant leakage.
In 2016, after a careful selection process, Varvel chooses Cattini as the project partner for injection moulding. Relying on its thorough knowledge of the thermal and mechanical properties of thermoplastic compounds, acquired in over fifty years of activity, Cattini optimizes the gear’s geometry to ensure process stability, using the moulding process simulation technology Moldex3D. The guaranteed mechanical properties are such as to make the gears work even in the absence of lubricant.
This is an innovative project, focused on the optimization of new worm and worm gear pairs made from advanced technopolymers that meet the technical and production requirements for new power transmission materials.
Other partners in the project are Kiss Soft, Studio Tecnico Zocca, Tec Eurolab and Università degli Studi di Ferrara.
